The D Day | Abilene Photographer

Well, things have been pretty quiet around JRP as we prepared for my husband to head out on a deployment this weekend. Gosh, there wasn't enough time in a day this last week. I had so much on my plate, but the only thing that mattered was our family and it felt so good to focus solely on that... and of course, everything that had gone totally awry around the house during the week. I could have snuggled in bed all day, watched every single interaction with my husband and our daughters for hours, I couldn't get enough smooches, or prayers, or embraces. It didn't feel like enough. But nothing can prepare you for the moment you load up the car to drop your other half off to leave for a few months. I added a few pictures from the morning - including a very terrible picture of myself- that speak volumes of the story a photograph can paint. It reminded me that no matter what it looks like, it's what you feel.

The last few days truly made me realize how blessed I am to have my daughters to go through this with me. Not that I would ever wish their heart ache of missing their daddy on them, but we cna keep each other happy and positive and upbeat. They make the days pass quicker and remind me constantly to thank God for our family and love them fiercely.

I have been trying to wrap my head back around business today so I can get focused on the goals I have for JRP the next few months. There will be some shift in my style (not newborns), there will be more beautiful gowns added to the client wardrobe, and there is going to be a huge launch of the non-profit organization my sister and I have co-founded for childhood cancer. It will be nice to focus on my daughters and cherishing their precious little hearts. And we will spend time with our families in Colorado, which we are so blessed to be able to do.
